Acquisition History 2003
On the heels of a difficult year in 2002, TD Bank Group (TD) repositioned to deliver more stable and sustainable earnings from the retail businesses. Given the importance of personal and commercial banking to TD’s overall success, TD acquired 57 Laurentian Bank branches in Ontario and Western Canada in 2003. TD also continued to build its wealth management business in the UK by taking over the remaining 50% of market making joint venture Aitken Campbell from The Charles Schwab Corporation.
