I've been cutting hair since the right age of 14.
The funny thing about it is, I actually started cutting hair kind of as a joke.
My mom used to do hair and she had clippers and I was putting her stuff up and the doorbell rang. It was one of my friends from school, and he seen me with this basket full of clippers and asked if I cut hair, and I was like, yeah, I cut his hair. It wasn't pretty.
Two weeks later, the doorbell rang again. He came back and once I really kind of got comfortable with what I was doing, it just, something just woke up in me.
For most people where it’s work. It's joy.
The reason why I initially teamed up with Damian and Jermaine was we had like views on what we wanted to do, so they wanted multiple shops.
So I'm like, okay, either I can join a team or I can build a team, whichever, you know, I love them genuinely. You know, we, we identify each other, come from the same place. So I'm like, it only made sense to join a team.
I love all my clients. "Jay, do you, do you be feeling love?"
"Some a little bit more than others probably. The barber that you have is just a camaraderie. The bond that you build with the person that takes care of you, makes you feel good and look good. When you step out of the chair."
The no grease experience, what you see is clean, well dressed, well cut barbers eager to serve. What you hear is great conversation and good music. And then what you feel is a qualified professional that cares about your experience.
