How to make a Canadian bill payment on mobile with TD app

Set up ongoing or make payments online on your credit card, utility or any other Canadian bills, using the TD app on your mobile device, wherever or whenever you are! Note that bill payment is considered a transaction. A chequing account with a transaction limit will charge a fee if you exceed that limit.

Here's a quick breakdown on how you can set up and pay your bills with the TD app:

For more in-depth instructions, learn more below. If you're looking to set up or pay bills on your desktop or tablet, log into EasyWeb instead and review the instructions here.

Step 1: Go to the Pay Bill page

Open the TD app. Select the Pay Bill button at the top of the screen.

The icon may appear in a different spot than in the sample image but will always be found along the top menu.

Step 2: Enter payment details

A 'payee' is a company or organization you want to pay.

From the Payee dropdown menu near the top of the screen, select your intended payee.

If your desired payee isn't on the list, select the Add Payee icon at the top right corner of the screen.

In the Amount field, enter the amount you want to pay (in Canadian dollars).

In the From Account dropdown, select the account from which you'll withdraw money.

Step 3: Choose payment date(s)

Payments scheduled for weekends or statutory holidays will be withdrawn automatically and sent on the next business day.

To set up and automate your bill payments, scroll to the How Often dropdown.

If you're sending a one-time payment, select Once. The Start Date field will be set to today and you can change it to a future date. Enter as needed, select the Continue button and skip to Step 4: Confirm payment details.

If you plan on making this payment more than once (Ex. a monthly internet bill or credit card bill), select Ongoing and continue.

If you've selected Ongoing from the dropdown menu, enter your first payment date in the Start Date field.

Select the Frequency dropdown and choose how often you want to send payments.

  • Once
  • Weekly
  • Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks)
  • Month-end
  • Monthly
  • Semi-monthly (every 2 months)
  • Quarterly (every 3 months)

From the Payment Will End section, decide when your last payment will happen.

If payments end on a set date, select On a specific date and choose the date.

If payments end after a number of installments, select After a number of payments and choose the number.

If you want payments to continue until you end them, select When I decide to cancel. You'll need to stop these payments manually.

When you're done, select the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Confirm payment details

Review your payment information carefully.

To go back and change information, select the < (back) button.

When you're ready, select the Pay Bill button at the bottom of the screen.

To cancel the bill payment, select the Cancel button.

A thank-you message will appear along with a confirmation number for your records.

From this screen, you can go to the TD app home screen, pay another bill or your upcoming bills.

Congratulations! You've completed this tutorial.
